Dog Training

Helping Create the Perfect Pet

Professional Dog Training

Does your furry friend walk calmly while on a leash? Does he jump on you or your friends? Does she run away when called?

Struggling with your dog’s behavior can have a significant impact on your relationship with your companion and family. We can help! Paw Commons Pet Resort has a team of certified dog trainers. Your dog can be trained during his or her stay with us. Ask about our Lodge and Learn Training programs!

Free Dog Training Evaluation

We have the ability to design a personally tailored dog training program for you. Because we have an actual training facility and a staff of professional trainers, we have the flexibility to determine together what format is best for you, versus only offering one solution.

In order to design a personally tailored program for you, we offer a Free Evaluation at our facility where you can meet with one of our training specialists. Prior to your evaluation, we will send you a comprehensive questionnaire so we can learn about your specific needs. Then we will meet with you and your dog to evaluate your current situation, discuss the challenges you are facing, and show you how we can help make a positive and significant improvement. We offer weekday and weekend evaluation appointments.

Classes

We offer at all levels – off-leash, on-leash and everything in between.

Our training programs range from basic obedience, like sit, stay, come, lay down, and heel, to more challenging behavior problems. We help clients overcome issues such as potty training, jumping on people, pulling on a leash, and barking. Our programs are designed and personalized for most dogs at any age.

We are most known for our training camps, but also offer private training lessons at our facility or in your home. Our past clients have been impressed at the positive change we have created in their dog’s behavior in a short period of time.

Once your dog’s training is complete, we conduct a comprehensive lesson with you to show you how to maintain and continually improve on your dog’s new good manners. Our training programs also include follow-up training lessons with you and your dog… then we can become your “dog coach” for life, providing ongoing support if ever needed.

Dog Trainer Bios

Bay Park Dog Training, Heather Simpson

Heather Simpson, Bay Park TrainerHeather is our dog trainer at our Bay Park location, and she has been working in the pet care industry for the last decade. Heather moved to San Diego in 2009 and was given an opportunity to volunteer at Helen Woodward animal shelter. After just a few shifts she quickly realized animal care was her passion. This passion led her to a doggie daycare and overnight facility, where she quickly worked her way to the General Manager position. This hands-on experience helped to foster a greater love and understanding for the human and K9 relationship which lead her to a nonprofit that trains service dogs. Heather was able to train dogs for specially selected families to help with their medical needs. This specialized training would take on average 14-16 months and allowed Heather to create some lasting friendships not only with the dogs she would place but with the families. This beyond rewarding experience helped to develop her love for dog training and ultimately brought her to Paw Commons.

Heather’s three fur babies Nala, Kobe, and Henry are always up for her adventures and spend most free days hiking or at the beach. Heather's love for animals is the driving force behind her constant desire to learn new training skills and help more people have a better lasting and loving relationship with their four-legged family member.

Encinitas Dog Training, Danielle Severson

Danielle Severson, Encinitas TrainerDanielle first started her work as a dog training when she was a young teenager with her own dogs teaching them basic obedience and agility as a way for them to receive a happy healthy outlet. She graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Animal Science and Agricultural Science to further enhance her career as well as the ability to provide knowledge and feedback when training. Danielle has experience working with a wide range of animals, having done assisted training at the Dallas Zoo. Soon after she began working with the company Joel Slaven Professional Animals putting on performances for big audiences. There she trained rescued dogs and cats with various personalities and behavior. She would work with them on their basic obedience so they could be adopted to good homes. Danielle’s experience is unique and throughout the years she has learned to enjoy all different types of training with a variety of animals. Danielle is a Certified AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and would love to work with your pet and help them become a Canine Good Citizen too!

Scottsdale & Gilbert Dog Training, Ryan Cambio

Ryan Cambio, Scottsdale TrainerRyan began working with dogs in 2006 in rural Ohio, volunteering for the local humane society, to work with their “unadoptable” dogs, to help them become ready for homes and their lives beyond the shelter. It was there he became more interested in the training side of things and began working with a then-small service dog organization. Over the years, Ryan has continued to further his training and behavior education and has gained a wealth of experience in multiple dog training fields, including therapy and service dog training, animal acting, and companion dog training. With his personal dogs, Ryan competes in multiple dog sports and continues animal acting. To date, his dogs have been on the front door of PetSmart’s across the country, in commercials, video shoots, and dozens of print ads. His Rottweiler, Aero, is breaking breed stereotypes all over, and is an exceptional therapy dog, working with high school students in Phoenix with special needs.
