Ana Mendoza , CPDT-KA, UW-AAB, CDBC
DOG TRAINER AT PAW COMMONS TUCSON
Ana is a Lead Trainer at Paw Commons and has been a Professional Trainer since 2021. She began her career in animal care at the Humane Society of Southern AZ and has been dedicated to the field ever since, driven by a lifelong love of animals and a passion for improving the lives of both dogs and their people.
Ana is highly credentialed. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a Certified Behavior Consultant. She is Certified Fear Free , Certified in Canine Aggression, and has earned an Applied Animal Behavior Certificate from the University of Washington. She specializes in working with dogs who have experienced shelter deterioration, fear-based behaviors, reactivity, and aggression.
Her training philosophy centers on communication, trust, and agency. Ana believes dogs thrive when they are given choice and the ability to communicate, and she uses reinforcement-based methods that help build confidence, resilience, and clarity between dogs and their handlers.
Outside of work, Ana enjoys painting, drawing, reading, and playing dinosaur-themed video games. She also shares life with her corgi, Toffee, who loves rolling in “interesting” smells and playing with his herding ball.
