Ben Vosberg

CEO

Ben Vosberg is the CEO of Paw Commons Pet Resorts. A San Diego native, he graduated from Point Loma High School and earned a business degree from San Diego State University. He once considered law school, but an early mentorship with a local entrepreneur whose daughter founded The Golden Paw in 1999 pulled him into the pet care world and set the course for a career built on service, standards, and accountability. The company was originally The Golden Paw but later changed its name to Paw Commons to match its new identity and elevated vision.

Ben became CEO of Paw Commons in 2008 with a simple and relentless mandate: create the most exclusive and trusted pet resort experience anywhere. He learned the operation from the dog’s perspective first, observing play styles, stress signals, and enrichment needs while partnering with leading trainers, consultants, and veterinarians to shape protocols that prioritize safety, structure, and joy.

Early in the life of Paw Commons, local government approached the company to house their animals under strict technical requirements. That engagement forged the backbone of the operating playbook: precise temperature control to defined thresholds, robust open air exchange systems for healthier environments, rigorous security standards, meticulous and fully documented feeding and medication routines with chain of custody checks, minute by minute play schedules engineered for stimulation and recovery, and behavior study frameworks to track, learn, and continuously improve. What began as compliance became culture, and those same disciplines guide every guest stay and staff decision today.

As Paw Commons expanded, Ben chose markets where he could build with family. The team entered Phoenix when his sister in law wanted to get involved, and recently opened in Tucson because his family is from the area and he wanted to be closer to them. That family first approach supports a culture of trust, accountability, and long term commitment in every location.

Ben is known for hands on leadership and transparent communication with clients. Outside of work, he is a proud dad who loves surfing, golf, and softball. Above all, he loves caring for people’s animals and making each visit feel personal, consistent, and exceptional.

Jacan C.

Director of Digital Marketing

With over 17 years in the pet care industry and more than 7 years at Paw Commons, Jacan has built a career that blends creativity, strategy, and deep industry knowledge. As Director of Digital Marketing, Jacan plays a pivotal role in shaping Paw Commons’ online presence, ensuring that the company’s voice is authentic, trustworthy, and engaging for pet parents across all seven locations.

Jacan’s journey into the pet care world began unexpectedly in 2007, when he transitioned from teaching preschool to working at a dog daycare and boarding facility in Connecticut, his home state. What started as a chance opportunity quickly became a lifelong career. Over the years, Jacan advanced from hands-on pet care roles to management, Human Resources, and ultimately into executive-level marketing leadership. This unique background allows him to approach his role with both a first-hand understanding of animal care and a visionary perspective on brand growth.

At Paw Commons, Jacan leads the creative direction and execution of all digital marketing efforts. He has developed and managed successful campaigns that have boosted sales, strengthened client loyalty, and elevated brand recognition. By overseeing content across seven social media platforms, crafting compelling newsletters, and building digital strategies that highlight the joy of life at Paw Commons, Jacan ensures clients feel connected long before they walk through the door. His work not only promotes services but also reflects the heart of Paw Commons—where pets are cared for like family.

Known for his artistic eye and creative spirit, Jacan thrives on bringing ideas to life through content creation. Whether developing engaging videos, designing impactful graphics, or curating heartfelt stories about the dogs and team members, he turns visions—his own and others’—into reality. His ability to blend creativity with strategy helps Paw Commons stand out in a crowded market while building trust with new and long-standing clients alike.

Although he no longer works directly with pets, Jacan cherishes the bonds he built early in his career. He fondly remembers the excitement of dogs recognizing him as soon as they entered the daycare—a reminder that trust must be earned from both pets and their parents. Today, he channels that same commitment into creating digital content that reflects transparency, care, and joy.

Outside of work, Jacan is a proud dog dad to Kingston, his affectionate and spirited Staffie mix known for his zoomies, love of squeaky toys, and obsession with socks. A lover of the outdoors and fitness, Jacan enjoys hiking, working out at the gym, photography, drawing, and film. His artistic creativity outside the office fuels the authenticity and storytelling he brings into his professional role, helping Paw Commons connect with clients on a deeper, more personal level.

Karly W.

Director of Reservations

With over 30 years of experience in pet care and a decade of leadership at Paw Commons since joining the company in 2014, Karly Warnock brings unmatched expertise, compassion, and dedication to her role as Director of Reservations.

Karly’s journey in animal care began in 1995, when she moved from Santa Barbara to help her aunt run a horse and dog boarding business on a 10-acre ranch in San Diego. Growing up immersed in animal care gave her the opportunity to work with dogs of all breeds and sizes, raise Dobermans and Fox Terriers, and even care for horses. This early foundation built her lifelong passion for animals and inspired her to blend her background in hotel hospitality with her love for pets—transitioning into what she calls “the perfect version of resort management, only with dogs instead of people.”

At Paw Commons, Karly is the organizational heartbeat of the reservations team. She ensures every dog’s stay is carefully tailored to their needs by gathering important details before arrival, coordinating seamlessly with staff, and orchestrating each stay like a well-planned puzzle. Her leadership extends to providing the utmost professional and friendly customer service for every client—always checking availability across locations to meet client needs, keeping schedules continuously optimized, and ensuring that no detail is overlooked.

In addition to overseeing the company-wide reservations team, Karly supports front desk staff across all Paw Commons locations. She regularly conducts hands-on workshops she personally designed to enhance customer service skills, both over the phone and in person. Her mentorship and training ensure consistency, professionalism, and warmth across the client experience, strengthening Paw Commons’ reputation for reliability and care.

Her career is filled with meaningful moments, from reviving a struggling newborn puppy named Bandit during delivery to resolving urgent situations for families in crisis—such as coordinating an emergency boarding stay for a dog whose pet sitter had abandoned them while the owners were on vacation. For Karly, both the little victories and the big rescues represent the true reward of her work: ensuring pets are safe, happy, and cared for like family.

Outside of Paw Commons, Karly shares her life with Delilah, her spirited 12-year-old Smooth Fox Terrier, and Bones, her playful 1-year-old kitten. The unlikely duo are best friends, bringing joy and laughter to her family. When she isn’t working, Karly enjoys horseback riding, cooking, exercising, and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Favorite Part of the Job: “For me, it’s about orchestrating the perfect stay. Every dog has unique needs and personalities, and I love piecing it all together so both the pets and their parents feel confident and cared for.”

Lindsay G.

Director of Operations

Since joining Paw Commons in 2016, Lindsay has grown from a Pet Care Technician to her current role as Director of Operations on the Executive Team, bringing nearly a decade of dedicated service and leadership to the company. With a background in advertising and a lifelong love for animals, she combines strategic business skills with hands-on pet care experience to ensure Paw Commons delivers exceptional service to both pets and their families.

Though her career began in advertising, Lindsay discovered her true calling when she took what was supposed to be a temporary role working directly with dogs at Paw Commons. Growing up in a household filled with dogs, and with a grandfather active in obedience training and shows, her passion for animals came naturally. What started as a “fun job” quickly became a meaningful career built on care, trust, and leadership.

Over the past 9 years, Lindsay has worked with dogs of all sizes and temperaments—from a 175 lb. mastiff to a 2 lb. teacup Yorkie. She has a special place in her heart for shy, reserved pups, and takes pride in being the first to earn their trust. These bonds highlight the rewarding nature of her work: becoming a comforting second family to dogs when their owners are away and supporting clients with honest communication and expert care.

As Director of Operations, Lindsay plays a vital role in guiding and supporting Paw Commons’ management teams. She oversees procedures, trains leaders on managerial responsibilities, provides solutions for unique situations, and ensures the highest level of customer service. She is also certified in Pet CPR, enabling her to teach and mentor staff in safe, effective pet care practices. One of her favorite aspects of the role is sharing knowledge about dog breeds and behavior through staff workshops, helping new team members create safe, enriching environments for every pet.

Lindsay connects deeply with Paw Commons’ mission of providing transparency and resources to clients. She believes that well-informed pet parents are better equipped to help their dogs live happy, healthy lives, and she works tirelessly to make sure every client feels confident in their decision to trust Paw Commons.

At home, Lindsay shares life with her three dogs: Baxter, a spirited 13-year-old blue heeler/Australian kelpie mix; Joel, a laid-back chow/German shepherd mix; and Bishop, the newest family member, a German shepherd/rottweiler/lab mix. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, with a special passion for sourdough baking and experimenting with new recipes.

Favorite Part of the Job: “I love getting to know each dog’s unique personality and sharing that knowledge with our team. By approaching every situation with calm confidence, we can create safe, happy spaces where both dogs and their parents feel secure.”

Yesenia R.

Operations Manager

With nearly 16 years at Paw Commons, Yesenia is a cornerstone of the company’s success and a trusted leader on the operations team. Starting in 2009 with little formal pet care experience beyond her own Chihuahua, Bambi, Yesenia has grown into her role as Operations Manager, overseeing multiple locations, training staff, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and care for every pet.

Yesenia’s journey into pet care began with a love for animals she had throughout her childhood. When she joined Paw Commons, she quickly discovered the joy of building bonds with dogs that weren’t her own. Over the years, she has witnessed countless pups grow up, grow old, and become part of the Paw Commons family. For her, those relationships are among the most rewarding aspects of her career.

Her experience extends across a wide range of dogs, from playful puppies to seniors and even special-needs pets. Early in her career, she learned how to assist dogs who couldn’t use their back legs, helping them move with care and patience. One of her most memorable cases was a dog named Dusty, who stayed at Paw Commons for three months while recovering from ACL surgery. Yesenia and her team administered his medications, helped him walk using a sling, and supported his recovery until his veterinarian praised his full return to health — a moment that reminded her of the impact thoughtful, consistent care can make.

Certified in Pet CPR, Yesenia combines practical skills with a calm, patient approach. She believes in moving slowly with nervous or fearful dogs, taking time to earn their trust and make them feel safe. Her favorite part of the job, however, is not only working with the dogs but also training staff. Over the years, she has mentored countless employees, instilling her methods and values into the next generation of Paw Commons caregivers. As one team member once said, they were trained “the Yesi way” — a reflection of her lasting influence on company culture.

As Operations Manager, Yesenia oversees day-to-day processes across all Paw Commons locations, supports managers, and ensures smooth communication between teams. She also leads hands-on training, guaranteeing that both new and experienced staff deliver the same standard of excellent service. Her approach to client reassurance is simple yet powerful: a warm smile, transparency, and the promise that every dog will be cared for as if they were her own.

At home, Yesenia’s love for animals is reflected in her own lively household. She shares her life with three dogs — Bella, a talkative and cuddly 13-year-old chiweenie; Marley, a 10-year-old chiweenie with a big personality; and Nacho (nicknamed Ignachio when in trouble), her sweet and loving 2-year-old pup. Alongside her dogs, she cares for five cats: Jerry, Chetto, Emma, Hanna, and Blu — each with their own quirks and personalities. Outside of work, she enjoys camping adventures with her wife and their dogs.

Favorite Part of the Job: “The bond you build with dogs that aren’t even yours is something truly special. Watching them grow with us over the years makes them part of our family, too.”

Zoe S.

Director of Canine Training

Zoe is the Director of Canine Training at Paw Commons, bringing over 15 years of experience in the pet care industry and a deep passion for improving the lives of dogs and their families. Since joining Paw Commons in January 2025, Zoe has been instrumental in shaping the company’s canine training programs and professional development for staff, ensuring every pet and parent receives compassionate, evidence-based guidance.

Zoe’s journey into pet care began with her own dog, Fox, a spirited companion with severe separation anxiety, leash reactivity, and a penchant for door bolting. Determined to help him live a calmer, happier life, she pursued formal training courses and quickly found her calling in canine behavior modification. Leveraging her degree in Business Management, she transitioned from managing a dog daycare to becoming a certified trainer, dedicating herself to improving the well-being of both pets and their owners.

Over the years, Zoe has worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and backgrounds—from tiny teacup dogs to giant breeds, including rare and sport-specific breeds like Ibizan Hounds, Dogos Argentinos, and Shikokus. She has experience with service dogs, therapy dogs, and dogs with physical or sensory limitations, including deaf, blind, and tripod dogs. These experiences have honed her ability to customize training approaches based on a dog’s unique needs, behavior, and temperament.

Zoe is a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant (CBCC-KA) through the CCPDT and a Certified CGC Evaluator, and she continually advances her knowledge through specialized courses in areas such as aggression and separation anxiety. She also specializes in training pet care facility staff, sharing her expertise to ensure a safe and enriched environment for all dogs in Paw Commons’ care.

Her favorite part of the job is mentoring and consulting with other trainers, as well as supporting puppy owners during those critical early months. Zoe considers herself a “general practitioner of dog trainers”—able to draw from a broad range of techniques and adapt to each dog and family with empathy, professionalism, and leadership.

As a leader, Zoe provides her team with a sounding board for challenges, continuous education, and collaborative problem-solving. She also trains all other pet care staff in canine behavior, helping handlers better understand how dogs communicate and learn. This focus on education and ongoing development reflects her belief that knowledge is key to making the best decisions for pets and their families.

Zoe’s approach to client care is rooted in transparency, reassurance, and practical guidance. She excels at matching parent expectations with dog needs, helping families navigate challenging situations—from managing leash aggression to creating long-term behavioral solutions. Her most rewarding moments come when she witnesses pet parents make positive changes that significantly improve their dogs’ lives.

Outside of work, Zoe is a devoted mom to two human children and enjoys singing, boating, and sharing meals with her family. She is also a proud dog mom to Biscuit, an 11-year-old Poo/Maltese/Dachshund mix, and Fisher, a 1.5-year-old standard poodle.

Jessica R.

HR Director

Jessica serves as the Human Resources Director at Paw Commons Pet Resorts, where she has been a key part of the team for over 18 years. With a professional background in early child development and more than 20 years of experience in the pet care industry, Jessica brings a unique perspective to her role. She began her journey in pet care by combining her natural love of caring for people and animals, which ultimately led her to Paw Commons. After many years as a General Manager, Jessica transitioned into HR, where she now supports every member of the Paw Commons team.

Jessica holds certifications in Pet and Human First Aid, CPR, and AED, ensuring she is prepared to support both staff and pets in emergencies. She has also earned her SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional) credential and is actively working toward her second advanced HR certification. These accomplishments reinforce her credibility as both a pet care professional and HR leader.

Her strength lies in building relationships—with both staff and clients. As HR Director, she goes beyond enforcing policies by fostering a supportive environment where employees feel valued, respected, and empowered. Her leadership background includes mentoring new managers, coaching team members, and guiding the company through periods of growth and change. Jessica is known for her “mama bear” energy—looking out for her team the way she would her own family.

While her daily role focuses on staff, Jessica has also stepped in to support pet parents directly. One memorable moment involved helping a long-time client care for a foster dog with severe behavioral challenges. Acting as a liaison between the client and Paw Commons’ care teams, Jessica ensured the dog received proper training and boarding, ultimately preparing the pup for a forever home. This story reflects her ability to connect with clients on a personal level and reinforce Paw Commons’ mission of safety, trust, and individualized care.

Jessica describes herself as a “part-time zookeeper” at home, sharing her life with many pets in addition to raising her kids. Outside of work, she loves watching her children play baseball and softball and spending time with her family. Her personal and professional lives reflect the same values—nurturing, protecting, and supporting both people and pets.
